Translator introduction
I, Erwin van Wouw (1973), operate as a self-employed translator and run Black Kite – my translation agency. The goshawk-like bird of prey in the logo is a kite, or wouw (my surname) as it is called in Dutch. I am a Dutch native speaker, married father of two and I live in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Summarized CV
After completing secondary vocational training in electrical engineering, I completed my military service as an instrument maker. I was responsible for maintaining and repairing sight devices as well as communication and navigation equipment. I worked subsequently as a flexographic printer, letterpress printer, web offset printer and repro operator for several companies including a label printer and newspaper printer. I also worked for an international publishing company that prints scientific journals and as a webmaster and systems administrator for a multifunctional horticultural company.
In 2002, I decided to pursue my passion for language. I enrolled in a four-year training course in English Translation at Hogeschool West-Nederland, a Dutch University of Professional Education for Translation and Interpreting. After graduation, I was sworn in as a certified translator by the District Court of Utrecht.
